About Robert Lucas

Bob has done flooring for a looooong time!

Robert "Bob" Lucas, president and founder of FLOORinSPEC, is a second-generation flooring professional. Years of working with his father and uncle as a helper and apprentice carpet installer gave him a great respect and understanding of what it means to be a flooring mechanic. After completing undergraduate studies in Secondary Education, Bob found that he couldn't escape his flooring roots.

He worked for several years as an independent flooring contractor in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and traveled all over the southeast completing flooring installations of varying types and sizes. An opportunity in commercial flooring project management brought him to Commercial Interiors, Inc. of Redmond, Washington, in 1998. He later went on to work with DuPont Commercial Flooring Systems in Seattle, completing his time there as Operations and Installations Service Manager. In 2003, he launched FLOORinSPEC and now serves as an industry specialist providing technical services for commercial flooring. His commitment and "gracious tenacity" have made him a well-respected member of the Northwest flooring community.

Bob is affiliated with and/or holds certifications from the following organizations: American Concrete Institute, Certified Floorcovering Installers Association, Institute of Inspection/Cleaning & Restoration, International Concrete Repair Institute, World Floor Covering Association, and Washington State Floor Covering Association. He has completed over 50 hours of continuing education training at Surfaces and World of Concrete annual industry events.
